1320Radio is proud to announce the launch of Fresh Jam!
Our special guest broadcaster Scott Murphy introduces under-the-radar jazz and off-grid crossover music in a brand new show, exclusive to 1320Radio.
Scott Murphy is already well known in Scotland as a key member of Scottish jazz juggernaut Fat-Suit. In the summer of 2013, Scott co-founded indie record label Equinox Records which has already released two albums by the instrumental collective with a third in the pipeline.
Outwith jazz, Scott regularly plays various styles of music including Rock, Pop, Hip-Hop, Funk, Ska and Classical. He has appeared at venues such as The Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, Edinburgh Usher Hall, Glasgow SECC, Birmingham NEC Arena, Barbican, Montreux Jazz Festival, Budapest Jazz Club and many more. His radio appearances include BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio Scotland, BBC Radio 3, and television appearances on BBC as well as STV and local broadcasters from Aberdeen to Poland.
Scott has also led master-classes on behalf of the Scottish Youth Jazz Orchestra and as part of Fat-Suit. He’s also been an instrumental tutor as part of the BBC Big Band for Lockerbie Jazz Festival, and a specialist jazz tutor with SYJO, and an International Educator at the Art Jazz Cooperative Festival (Ukraine).
The very first edition of Fresh Jam with Scott Murphy aired Tuesday 1st September @ 20.00 BST, and again on Friday and Saturday 4 and 5 September @ 20.00 BST. Listeners in Other Time Zones can hear the show from 01.00 BST on 2nd, 3rd and 4th September
Featured artists from a very healthy creative jazz scene are naturally prominent, although Scott’s selections reflect the eclectic, you-name-it-we’ve-got-it ethos of 1320Radio. Listen out for Paul Harrison, Glowrogues, Calum Macleod, Gus Stirrat Band, Corrie Dick and New Focus with all your favourite music you’ve never heard yet.
