Join Scott Murphy for another “splurge” of sonic mayhem as he explores the outer limits of the furthest reaches of cutting edge jazz in Fresh Jam 4 – broadcasting 3,4,5 May 2016 @20.00 GMT on 1320Radio.
This month Scott introduces you to some of the most exciting contemporary music from Scotland in particular, and the UK in general. His selections include tracks from Young Pilgrims, Alan Benzie Trio, Jonathan Silk, Julian Arguelles, James Steele, The Groove Merchant Orchestra, Corrie Dick and Let Spin. Many of these artists are at the front of the forefront, and 1320Radio is especially proud to offer an internet radio platform for these and many other incredibly gifted musicians working in jazz today.
Scott Murphy also recommends some of the LIVE JAZZ HIGHLIGHTS for May that includes the Restless Natives Festival in Glasgow’s East End (9th-15th May) which Scott himself is curating and the Glasgow Jazz Festival (June 22 – July 3).
The sprawling programme for GJF this year features George Benson, Pee Wee Ellis, Soweto Kinch and Joe Locke alongside several of the groups featured on the show, and must-see rising stars such as Helena Kay and Fergus McCreadie with his trio.
